Availability

This course is compulsory on the MSc in Politics and Government in the European Union and MSc in Politics and Government in the European Union (LSE and Sciences Po). This course is not available as an outside option.

Course content

MSc Politics and Government in the European Union and the LSE-sciences Po Double Degree in European Studies (Politics and Government in the European Union) students are required to write a 10,000-word dissertation on a topic within the field of European politics, approved by the student's supervisor. A Dissertation Topic Approval Form must be submitted by the start of the Summer Term. The dissertation need not be an account of original research and may rely on secondary sources but it should be the product of work done independently by the student. Students are strongly advised to attend the EU465 lectures on how to conduct research and write a dissertation. Detailed information on timing, deadlines and presentation can be found in the European Institute Handbook for Master's Degree Students.

Teaching

Lectures are scheduled as part of EU465 Research Methods and Design in EU Politics with four hours of lectures in the Michaelmas Term and four hours of lectures in the Lent Term.

Assessment

Dissertation (100%, 10000 words) in the ST.
