Course content

This course consists of a project which will be undertaken throughout the second year of the degree. Students will choose between an academic dissertation or a capstone project. The academic dissertation will explore a question that is grounded in academic theory and literature. The capstone project will explore a business idea or venture. In both projects, students will collect original data relevant to their research question or business idea and must analyse the data, discuss limitations, and draw conclusions.

Teaching

Students are required to participate in 20 hours of scheduled seminar sessions from module 3 onwards which will provide guidance and support in developing their dissertation or capstone project. Separate seminars will be conducted to provide support for those who choose the academic dissertation and those who choose the capstone project. Students will be allocated a faculty advisor who will support and guide them. The course will run throughout the year.

Formative coursework

Students will be required to agree their dissertation/capstone topic with a faculty advisor and provide a plan which they will receive feedback on.

Relevant reading will be provided by academic advisors.

Assessment

Dissertation (100%, 6000 words).
