Availability

This course is available to MPhil/PhD students from across the LSE who are undertaking, or considering undertaking, projects using qualitative and quantitative computer packages in their research.

Course content

MY591 is a series of workshop modules that provide research students with an appreciation of various computer packages through introduction and hands-on training in the use of these tools. Each workshop covers training in particular software used in analytical research, including statistical analysis packages, qualitative analysis software, and tools for text analysis, such as NVivo, QDA Miner, SPSS, Stata, and R. Research students can sign up to as many workshops as they wish. Workshops typically consist of three-hour sessions.

Teaching

Sessions to be held in term time throughout the year; participants are required to sign up via LSE’s Training and Development System.
