Availability

This course is compulsory on the MSc in Urbanisation and Development. This course is available on the MSc in Urban Policy (LSE and Sciences Po). This course is not available as an outside option.

Course content

The dissertation may be on any topic within the field of the MSc programme studied. Approval for the topic must be obtained from the relevant Programme Director.

 

Teaching

1 x 2-hour Workshop in MT on dissertation preparation.

Discussions with dedicated dissertation supervisor from late Michaelmas until the end of the Lent term. The number of face-to-face staff-student supervision sessions is normally limited to 3 half-hour slots in the Michaelmas through Lent term period, separate from any other e-mail exchanges and office hour visits in all terms.

Feedback workshop where students present their dissertation proposal and receive feedback from staff and their peers – this workshop concludes teaching in the compulsory course GY452 ‘Urban Research Methods’. Students will also receive feedback on their dissertation proposal submitted as part of the overall GY452 assessment.

Assessment

Dissertation (100%, 10000 words) post-summer term.
