This course is compulsory on the MPhil/PhD in Philosophy. This course is not available as an outside option.

Course content

The idea of the course is to read and carefully discuss together a range of classic papers in contemporary analytic philosophy that might not otherwise be covered in LSE Philosophy Department courses. Topics are selected from the philosophy of logic, language, metaphysics, and the philosophy of mind and action. This list is illustrative.

Indicative reading

Specific readings will be announced in a detailed syllabus at the start of the term.

Assessment

Four essays of 2,500-3,500 words each over the course of the two terms.
