Availability

This course is compulsory on the MSc Human Geography and Urban Studies (Research), MSc in Environmental Economics and Climate Change, MSc in Environmental Policy and Regulation, MSc in Local Economic Development, MSc in Real Estate Economics and Finance, MSc in Regional And Urban Planning Studies, MSc in Urban Policy (LSE and Sciences Po) and MSc in Urbanisation and Development. This course is available on the MSc in Environment and Development. This course is not available as an outside option.

Course content

The dissertation may be on any topic within the field of the MSc programme studied. Approval for the topic must be obtained from the relevant Programme Director.

Teaching

2 hours of lectures and 2 hours of workshops in the MT. 1 hour and 30 minutes of workshops in the LT. 1 hour and 30 minutes of workshops in the ST.

Two general lectures for all MSc students on dissertation preparation in the MT: An introduction to preparing, planning and writing a Master's dissertation, including choosing a topic, writing and keeping track of sources, time management and data sources and information handling. One topical workshop on environmental dissertations in the MT for students of the MSc Environmental Economics and Climate Change, MSc Environmental Policy & Regulation, MSc Environment & Development only. Two topical workshops in the LT and ST respectively for students of the MSc Urbanisation & Development only.

Assessment

Dissertation (100%, 10000 words) post-summer term.
