Welcome reception and farewell party

These two events are good chances to make connections with your fellow students and LSE academics.

It's been very easy to meet new people. There are a lot of other students in the same boat as you - they're also in a new place and don't know many people but the social programme really encourages interaction and allows you to make great friends for life.

Surammay Nagar, Advanced Corporate Finance and Intermediate Macroeconomics, 2019

Welcome reception

This event is not ticketed but operates on a first come, first served basis.

This event is the first of the Social Programme events and there is one at the start of each session. There are six welcome receptions in total, one for each subject group, taking place on the first Monday and Tuesday evenings in session one and two and on the first Monday evening in session three.

We encourage you to come along and meet students from all courses over some drinks and canapés. There will also be a chance to network and meet the academic staff at LSE.

Welcome reception

"I really enjoyed the welcome reception! It was such a great space to meet so many new people – not only from your department and from your classes but from other classes as well. I also really enjoyed hearing from the professor speaking and having his input on the programme."

Nicholas Pham, Financial Markets and the Global Economy & Public Finance, 2018

Farewell party

This event is not ticketed. You will receive an email the day before the event with more details.

This event is the final send-off for our Summer School students, which takes place at the end of each session. We invite you to celebrate all your hard work with a well-earned night of fun.

The farewell party takes place at the Saw Swee Hock Centre with an ice cream van, entertainers, plenty of sweets, photobooths and lots more!

"I thought meeting new people was going to be challenging. However, you're in such welcoming surroundings meeting like-minded people and making friends has been easy."

Aleksa Antic, Tax, Justice and Society, 2019
