Entry requirements

Executive Education Courses are taught to the School's high standard and are therefore academically rigorous. Participants are expected to be fluent in English, with a good first degree in a relevant subject. 

As an executive programme, experience in the workplace is a key requirement. Most of our participants have more than 10 years' experience but we will consider fast-track candidates with a minimum of two years' professional experience.

Introductory economics and introductory finance.  Students must be familiar with finance topics such as discounted cash-flow analysis, WACC and CAPM; advanced knowledge of corporate finance is not required.

Programme structure

The course provides an applied and practical approach to finance, enabling you to use the concepts, frameworks, and tools of modern finance to address topical issues. The programme is designed to enhance your understanding of corporate finance as a tool for making strategic decisions.

You will learn how to apply basic capital structure and valuation techniques to the analysis of strategic decisions, such as mergers and acquisitions, reorganisations, and raising capital. The course will then take you beyond the analysis of capital structure and valuation techniques, by focusing on interactions between financial and strategic decisions in corporations.

This course will address the following key topics:

  • Financial markets and project valuation

  • Corporate and competitive strategy; mergers & acquisitions

  • Financial distress and the interactions between financing and investment decisions; leveraged buyouts

  • Strategy for new businesses; going public and private.

  • Improve your understanding of the interactions between financial and strategic decisions

  • Develop skills in working with modern valuation tools and learn how to apply them to the valuation of projects and companies

  • Understand how modern theoretical developments in finance and strategy are applied in real-world situations, by means of hands-on applications using real financial data
