How do I request to defer my offer of a place to the next academic year?

LSE has taken the decision not to allow deferrals from one academic year to the next. If you decide that you do not wish to take up your place, you should instead reinstate your application for consideration in the following year. As someone who was previously offered a place it is very likely that you will again be made an offer, but it is fairer to be considered alongside the cohort for entry in the year you actually intend to study. Please note that for technical reasons it is not possible to reinstate your application more than once. If you wish to be considered for a third cycle, you need then to apply from scratch in that year.

Reinstate my application

  • Name
  • Your current status
Please indicate the outcome of your existing application and whether you submitted it in 2022/3 or reinstated (or deferred) a previous application.
  • Update your documents
If you are applying for different programmes to those you applied for in 2022/3, please ensure that you submit a new statement of academic purpose for each choice. You should also strongly consider doing this if you are applying for the same choice(s) as in 2022/3 but were unsuccessful.
  • If you have completed your present qualification since you submitted your application, please upload your final transcript (particularly if you held a conditional offer). You may also upload a new CV.
  • If you wish to be considered for 1+3 funding, please make sure that you indicate this clearly in your new statement of academic purpose and, if you have not already done so, include an outline research proposal.
  • By submitting this form you agree that you decline any existing offer for entry in 2022/3. The choices on this form will supersede any previous choices
