About me

Annalena Oppel is an LSE Fellow at the Department of Sociology and a Faculty Associate at the International Inequalities Institute. She holds a DPhil in Development Studies from the University of Sussex, the Institute of Development Studies (12/2020). Her research interest involve multidisciplinary approaches to inequality research, particularly those that utilize relational/network approaches. Her research focuses on economic inequality and trend patterns as well as justifications of inequality and the politics of social protection in contexts of the global South. Prior to joining LSE, she has been a Research Associate at UNU WIDER, a Visiting Research Fellow at Harvard University and a Junior Consultant for the German Development Cooperation and the OECD.
