During the Covid-19 Pandemic, 'Global Democracy' has been put to the test. The crisis has been used as a disguise for abuses of power and human rights. Severe police brutality, exacerbated inequalities, restrained freedom of speech, right to protest and individual privacy have all been common occurrences in governments’ chase for authority. The reinforcement of nationalist and xenophobic ideologies, growing mistrust for the legitimacy of elections and authoritarian success in containing the virus pose a question about the future of the democratic model in the Post-Covid World. Will governments be able to escape the responsibility for their actions as the public unites to stand up against the control and constraint?
