The legacy of SARS in Singapore still lasts today in hospital operations, public health policies and people’s attitudes towards infectious diseases. This is especially so, 17 years later, in the fight against COVID-19. We took notice of the long-lasting impact a major outbreak can take.

As a result of COVID-19, young people have seen many changes to their lives. They will, as adults, bear the economic and psychosocial consequences. Young people will also need to understand these consequences themselves. In the next 10-15 years, we are sure that many will be at management level. If young people are not informed of the full impact of COVID-19, and its associated personal biases and trauma formed during the pandemic, there is a real danger in making uninformed important decisions.

Research into young people's experiences is therefore even more important in understanding long-term implications and guiding us to navigate a Post-COVID World.
