Coronavirus outlaws: how an infringement on freedom has divided democracy
My pitch is an outline of my research on anti-Covid-19 individuals and how they have interacted together under the belief that their freedom has been infringed upon by the British government.
As we come out of the pandemic, the government will need to make important decisions on how much influence they can now have on individuals lives (such as making mask-wearing mandatory in certain places or future lockdowns). My pitch describes how overarching government control has already established a group which believes that government and societal elites have too much power over normal citizens.
This is important in the post-Covid world as the government look to form a long-term, sustainable plan of how to control Covid-19 infection while allowing for the Western fundamental principle of freedom to be practised. My fieldwork and pitch on anti-Covid-19 individuals can be used to solve this dilemma.
