Dr Jonathan Birch is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method at LSE. He specialises in the philosophy of the biological sciences, and is working on evolution of social behaviour, the evolution of norms, animal sentience, and the relation between sentience and welfare.
