Professor Deborah James FBA is Professor in the Department of Anthropology and a Faculty Associate in the International Inequalities Institute at LSE. A specialist in the anthropology of South and Southern Africa, her work is broadly political and economic in focus. She is also interested in comparative insights into the state, law, civil society and religion in postcolonial settings.
