Dr Amanda Sheely is Associate Professor in the Department of Social Policy at LSE. Her research focuses on social assistance programmes for lone mothers, with a primary focus on the United States.

She is particularly interested in how devolution shapes policy implementation, the relationship between social assistance programmes and low wage employment, and how the interaction between social assistance and criminal justice systems shapes outcomes among economically disadvantaged mothers.
