Dr Servet Yanatma is a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Media and Communications, at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and freelance journalist based in London. He holds a BA and MA in history from the Bogazici University, Istanbul. In 2015, he completed his PhD program in the Middle East Technical University in Ankara with the title of “The International News Agencies in the Ottoman Empire, 1854-1908”. He was a journalist fellow and visiting fellow at Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at University of Oxford in 2015/16 and 2017/18 academic years. He was also a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Communication at University of Copenhagen in 2018.
Dr Yanatma contributed to the Future of National News Agencies in Europe research project at LSE, and produced a report with Atte Jääskeläinen on “business model innovation in media-owned national news agencies”. His recent articles were published at Journalism.
During his time at LSE, Dr Yanatma is working with Prof Terhi Rantanen.
