Anwen is an applied microeconomist specialising in health economics and education economics. He obtained his PhD in Economics from Lancaster University in 2015. He holds a MSc Economics from University College London, a BSc Economics and a BSc Management from Jilin University, China. Prior to joining LSE, he spent one and a half years at the Faculty of Economics, University of Cambridge, where he was a Research Associate.
His work involves eliciting causal evidence from observational data following quasi-experimental research designs. He is interested in a variety of topics in education economics and health economics, including economic returns to education, schools, mental health, and health policy evaluation. His current research focuses on evaluations of health polices in China.
