John was awarded ESRC funding to research the use of intermediaries in the criminal justice system. He is a barrister qualified to practice in both Northern Ireland and England and Wales and spent time working in private practice in both jurisdictions. He holds an LL.B (First Class Honours) from Queen’s University, Belfast and an LL.M (distinction) in Public International Law from City University, London. He has also previously been awarded the County Antrim Grand Shield Bursary and the Edgar Graham Memorial scholarship. John is a visiting lecturer of criminal law at City University, London and has held teaching positions at Queen's University, Belfast. He is currently collaborating with the Department of Justice in Northern Ireland to see how intermediaries for vulnerable individuals can be extended to the civil courts.
