English presessional programmes

If you need to improve your English for Academic Purposes (EAP), our aim is to provide you with the highest level of language support

Our presessional courses will ensure that you are well prepared for your studies. Also, passing the LSE Language Test is one way of fulfilling your English language requirement for graduate study at LSE.

Apart from improving my basic English skills, I was trained to be able to deal with academia and research. The programme boosted my confidence to express ideas clearly, both orally and in written form.
Attending the presessional programme at the LSE language centre was deeply motivating and, I have no doubt, of primary importance for my MSc.
This course is a great opportunity to improve both professionally and personally.

Following the precautionary measures the School is taking to support our community in response to COVID-19 (coronavirus) all events on campus have been cancelled. Therefore, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Presessional Programme. LSE offer holders have been contacted by LSE Admissions with alternative ways to meet English language offer conditions.

What you can do now to prepare for testing and to study at LSE

The LSE Admissions team have put together, with our help, a list of online resources. You can find these on this page. You will need to scroll down and find 'Useful preparation materials'.

These materials cover various topics such as;

  • Preparing for English language testing
  • Using English for Academic Purposes
  • Preparing for your own Department Presessional course (if you have one)
  • Preparing to study at LSE

Please remember, should you have any questions regarding your offer or any conditions attached please contact Graduate Admissions.
