About me

Ashleigh Kate Slingsby is the Centre’s Communications and Engagement Officer. She is responsible for coordinating and delivering the communications programme and ensuring the dissemination of LACC and LSE research.

Ashleigh holds a Masters in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi, India), as well as a BSocSci in Law and Public Policy and Administration, and an Honours Degree in International Relations, both from the University of Cape Town (South Africa).

She currently serves as a copy editor for LSE’s International Growth Centre (IGC) (2016 – present). Before joining LACC, Ashleigh worked for the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) in publications centred communications (2016 – 2017) and as a consultant for the European Commission (DG DEVCO) as an event reporter (2017).

Before relocating to London in 2016, she was based in Brasilia, where she worked for the International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG) in communications and knowledge management, with a focus on social protection policies and programmes (2014 - 2016). Upon arrival in London, Ashleigh worked as a remote communications consultant for the socialprotection.org knowledge sharing platform, which is hosted by the IPC-IG (2017 – 2020). 

While working for the IPC-IG, she reported on numerous international events and served as co-editor of the IPC-IG’s flagship publication, Policy in Focus, ‘Protagonist Women’ (2014). Ashleigh began her work in communications while studying in New Delhi where she worked for United Nations Women Asia Pacific in advocacy centred communications (2013). Her areas of interest include socio-economic inequality, social protection, inclusive growth, and gender.
