FAQs

Check on a regular basis our frequently asked questions - and answers - page at FrontPage 2000 Frequently asked questions (FAQs).

Web surgeries

We offer support at web surgeries: Monday 2.30pm to 5pm and Thursday 11am to 1pm in Room W301, Tower 3 - access via third floor of Tower 2.  During surgeries you can work on your website and ask team members for help. We have computers available for your use, and the Web Services team will be on hand to talk you through your problems.

Please note that Monday surgeries are currently suspended due to work on our major project: testing and implementing the new Content Management System. Please see the latest Web Services' Newsletter for more information.

Newsletters and forums

As a designated departmental web editor you will be added to our monthly newsletter mailing list. The newsletter provides you with important information about current Web Services projects that affect your role as web editor. It also includes handy reminders about best practice and about housekeeping tasks that need to be carried out on your sites regularly. Previous issues are available at Web services newsletters.

On occasion Web Services run web editor forums, which give us an opportunity to disseminate important information affecting all web editors and where you can ask questions and network.

Online help

If you would like to develop your skills further then see the Web Editors' Handbook for a range of information including  'How to' guides, advice on Editorial/ writing style and a Best practice guide.  You may not have time to read the whole Web Editors' Handbook, but please make sure you read Best practice for web pages: summary. It covers the most important points you need to be aware of as a web editor.
