The main research interest of Eleonore has centred on the European Union’s foreign, security and defence policy. She holds a BA in European Studies from the University of Maastricht and an MSc in Politics and Governance of the European Union.
She gained work experience while working for and/or advising governmental agencies in Berlin and Paris She has also held positions in public diplomacy and strategic communication. Former employees include, among other, the EU Delegation to the OECD and UNESCO, the German Cooperation for International Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, GIZ) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The European External Action Service’ policy influence in security and defence
The thesis aims to understand the extent and conditions under which the European External Action Service is able to shape and steer policies in the field of security and defence. Addressing its institutional embeddedness in policy networks, it zooms into the interactions between the EEAS and the other relevant actors in security and defence policy making.
