
Celebrating the Life and Thought of Thandika Mkandawire

The Department of International Development will hold a Memorial and Symposium in remembrance of our esteemed colleague, Prof. Thandika Mkandawire, whose illuminating and engaged approach to Development Economics has inspired generations of African and Africanist scholars, students, policymakers and development practitioners. We invite you to join us in commemorating Prof. Mkandawire’s life and innovative contribution to development thinking.
A Memorial will be held in the morning of 4 October from 10.00am to 11.30am in the Shaw Library, and a Symposium will be held in the afternoon of 4 October from 1.30-4.30pm in the Shaw Library.

The Thandika Fund
The Department of International Development is pleased to announce the Thandika Mkandawire Visiting Lecture, an annual initiative to support a brief visit and public lecture by an innovative African scholar working on development-related issues. Contributions in memory of Thandika to extend this initiative to increase the number of scholars and where possible the length of research visits are welcomed through the following link.
