The estimated model closely replicates trajectories for world population, GDP, sectoral productivity growth and crop land area from 1960 to 2010. Projections from 2010 onwards show a slowdown of technological progress, and, because it is a key determinant of fertility costs, significant population growth. By 2100 global population reaches 12.4 billion and agricultural production doubles, but the land constraint does not bind because of capital investment and technological progress.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\n<?xml encoding=\"UTF-8\">
Global population growth, technology, and Malthusian constraints: a quantitative growth theoretic perspective<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"author":12,"featured_media":0,"template":"","tags":[386,384,383,684,683,385],"publication-type":[435],"topic_area":[4700],"class_list":["post-9794","publication","type-publication","status-publish","hentry","tag-food-security","tag-land","tag-population","tag-population-growth","tag-schumpeterian-growth-model","tag-technological-progress","publication-type-working-papers","topic_area-land-and-oceans"],"acf":{"downloads":{"ref_value":"field_52f16cc1a80f2","value":["https:\/\/www.lse.ac.uk\/granthaminstitute\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Working-paper-161-Lanz-et-al-2016.pdf"],"type":"download","post_type":""},"profile_link":{"ref_value":"field_52f164b5189e9","value":["simon-dietz","bruno-lanz","tim-swanson"],"type":"relationship","post_type":"profile"},"spotlight":{"ref_value":"field_52f80896506d3","value":"","type":false,"post_type":""},"exclude_from_sync":{"ref_value":"field_560538b0e7350","value":"0","type":false,"post_type":""},"rss_newsletter":{"ref_value":"field_54f5c2c1544d8","value":"","type":false,"post_type":""},"show_translations_widget":{"ref_value":"field_6203d588c41e8","value":"0","type":false,"post_type":""}},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
