Mark Jwaideh is the Nature Data and Risk Analytics Lead at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics (LSE), contributing to the Earth Capital Nexus<\/path><\/svg><\/a> initiative. His work focuses on developing frameworks to quantify nature-related financial risks and translate environmental dependencies into decision-useful metrics for financial institutions and policymakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Background<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Prior to joining LSE, Mark held a lead role at the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford, within the Global Finance and Economy Group. There, he led nature and environmental analytical work under the Greening Finance for Nature programme, advancing methodologies to assess economic risks from ecosystem degradation, including the development of spatially explicit Nature Value-at-Risk (NVaR) frameworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier in his career, Mark worked at MSCI, where he contributed to research and development of ESG methods and frameworks, the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) pilots, and developed geospatial biodiversity footprinting methodologies integrating multiple environmental indicators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark completed his PhD at University College London (UCL), developing PLANTdex, a geospatial index capturing environmental impacts of agricultural production.
