Joanne C. Burgess is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Colorado State University (CSU), where she is also affiliated with CSU’s School of Global Environmental Sustainability. She previously taught at the University of Wyoming and the University of York and served as a Research Associate at the London Environmental Economics Center (LEEC) of the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) in London. Additionally, she has provided consulting services to various national, international, and non-governmental organizations, including numerous UN agencies, the World Bank, and the OECD. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burgess has authored over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, written five books (including one textbook), and published in popular journals (see Google Scholar<\/path><\/svg><\/a>, ScholarGPS<\/path><\/svg><\/a>, and ResearchGate<\/path><\/svg><\/a>). She recently published a textbook, Economics for a Sustainable World: An Introduction to Natural Resource and Environmental Economics<\/em><\/a> (with Edward B. Barbier, Cambridge University Press, 2025), and co-authored the book Economics of the SDGs: Putting the Sustainable Development Goals into Practice<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>(with Edward B. Barbier, Palgrave Macmillan, 2021).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
