Jeffrey Chwieroth is Head of the Department of International Relations<\/path><\/svg><\/a> and Professor of International Political Economy, as well as co-investigator of the Systemic Risk Centre<\/path><\/svg><\/a> and Faculty Affiliate at the Phelan United States Centre<\/path><\/svg><\/a> at the London School of Economics and Political Science.  His current research interests are in the political economy of international money and finance, specifically the politics of climate-related risks to financial stability and household wealth, as well as public attitudes toward economic policy interventions and inequality in an age of rising household wealth, asset ownership and borrowing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Background<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Jeffrey is the author The Wealth Effect: How the Great Expectations of the Middle Class Have Changed the Politics of Banking Crises<\/em> (Cambridge University Press, 2019, with Andrew Walter, University of Melbourne) and Capital Ideas: The IMF and the Rise of Financial Liberalization<\/em> (Princeton University Press, 2010). He has published numerous articles and book chapters on the political economy of international money and finance.  His research has been supported by grants from the Australian Research Council, the AXA Research Fund, the British Academy for the Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Economic and Social Research Council.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
