Amir is a Canning House Research Fellow based in the Latin American and Caribbean Centre<\/a> (LACC) and an associate at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the environment.<\/p>\n

Background<\/h3>\n

Amir holds a PhD and MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge, and a BA in International Relations from Queen Mary University of London. He has published several articles on industrial policy, the political economy of diversification in resource-dependent countries and value addition extractives sectors. His most recent work on climate change addresses the role of green industrial policy to upgrade in renewable energy value chains and barriers to innovation in green technologies.<\/p>\n

Before coming to the LSE, Amir held a teaching position at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.<\/p>\n
