COP31 – the 31st session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change – will take place in Antalya, Türkiye from Monday 9 November^{<\/sup>to Friday 20 November 2026.<\/p>\n}

One of the main objectives of COP31 will be to turn the commitments made at previous sessions into concrete implementation. There will be a particular focus on:<\/p>\n

The event will examine how the International Court of Justice’s 2025 advisory opinion on climate change is being implemented in practice, from litigation against governments and corporate emitters to Nationally Determined Contributions and climate diplomacy. Bringing together perspectives from the Pacific and beyond, the discussion will consider what effective implementation requires, the risks for vulnerable countries and the international legal order if the opinion is ignored or implemented inconsistently, and how universities can support communities, courts and governments in making the opinion count.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
