A paper co-authored by a team of researchers including the Institute’s Frank Venmans<\/a> and Ben Groom<\/a> has been announced as one of nineteen winners of the Frontiers Planet Prize<\/path><\/svg><\/a> which aims to recognise “scientists offering scalable solutions to help keep humanity safely within planetary boundaries”. The prize winners were selected by 100 independent experts – including renowned sustainability and planetary health leaders, chaired by Professor Rockström.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The paper Accounting for the increasing benefits from scarce ecosystems<\/path><\/svg><\/a> was published in the journal Science<\/em> and was one of the winners of the prize in the ‘Community health and environmental justice’ category. The paper suggests that as people get richer, and ecosystem services scarcer, policy-relevant estimates of ecosystem value must rise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Frontiers Planet Prize Award Ceremony will take place on 17 June 2025 at the Villars Symposium in Villar-sur-Ollon, Switzerland and is hosted by the Villars Institute. <\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\n
