Following the announcement of the death of the distinguished economist Professor Martin Weitzman, Lord Stern of Brentford, Chair of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, said: “We have just heard the very sad news of the passing of Marty Weitzman this week. The world of economics has lost a hugely talented and influential figure, and I have lost a close friend of nearly 50 years. We were very fortunate as a world to have had Marty. His ideas have never been more important than now. I will miss him dearly. Our thoughts are with his family at this terribly sad time.”<\/p>\n
