As countries are coming together to strengthen climate ambition in the run up to COP27, a stronger policy agenda at the intersection of climate, development and trade will be crucial to ensure a credible transition towards net-zero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building on the recent proposal by the German G7 Presidency for an inclusive international Climate Club, this panel will bring together leading representatives from think-tanks, academia and international organisations to discuss how international cooperation can accelerate climate action and how trade can be part of the solution. The panellists will deliberate on how trade rules can be strengthened to address the climate emergency by ensuring open markets for clean technologies, harmonisation of standards and carbon accounting as well as lowering trade barriers for environmental goods and services. High-profile panellists from key countries will contribute their perspectives on how partnerships on trade, innovation and finance can pave the way for an inclusive Climate Club that takes into account different countries priorities and circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
