Lecture on the prospects for COP15 in Copenhagen 2009<\/p>\n

Climate change is one of the most complex global challenges the world currently faces. Unless dealt with, climate change will potentially have disastrous effects on nature and human societies.<\/p>\n

It is the aim that a new global agreement shall be concluded at COP15 in Copenhagen in December 2009.<\/p>\n

Connie Hedegaard shared her observations on the status of the international negotiations and dwelled upon hurdles and deadlocks to be overcome in order to reach agreement.<\/p>\n

This event was one of a series of events marking the establishment of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at LSE, and also formed part of the FT Business – LSE European Institute ‘The Future of Europe’ lecture series.<\/p>\n
