The European Union’s Energy Roadmap 2050 anticipates that carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology will play an important role in decarbonising the European energy system from around 2030 onwards. So far progress towards this goal has been slow. New and stronger policy is required at the EU and Member State level to accelerate the development and deployment of CCS over the next decade. This new report by the Grantham Research Institutes at the London School of Economics and Imperial College, and the Centre for Climate Change Economics and Policy (CCCEP), analyses the key barriers faced by CCS in Europe and recommends a new European strategy to accelerate its development and deployment over the next decade.<\/p>\n
