DESCRIPTION:
While every effort needs to be made to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in all sectors\, it is clear that a net-zero target will require some greenhouse gas removal\, also referred to as ‘negative emissions’. Indeed\, to meet the Paris Agreement target\, most global scenarios consistent with limiting warming below 2°C above pre-industrial levels require global net negative emissions in the second half of this century.
But what are the questions and controversies surrounding negative emissions technologies? Join our panel of experts to find out more on issues such as R&D\, regulatory support\, public perception\, governance\, liability and domestic viability.
Join our panel of experts to explore these issues further.
Maarten Hage – Senior Economist at Vivid Economics
Steve Smith - Head of Climate Science at Department for Business\, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS)
Dr Emily Cox - Research Associate at Cardiff University
Representative from Drax- TBC
