DESCRIPTION:This panel event explores possible solutions to the key challenges that the EU faces in meeting its 2030 energy and climate change targets\, especially as the EU power sector transitions into a new phase.

What are the most effective policy interventions to decarbonise a power sector characterised by increasingly competitive low-carbon sources? How credibly could the EU and its member states embrace the reforms needed to achieve such decarbonisation? And\, outside the power sector\, how can carbon taxes be introduced in a way that is more acceptable to the public?

Following a presentation of the findings\, a panel discussion with key stakeholders will debate these issues\, and invite questions and discussion from the floor.

The work\, part of the Statkraft Policy Research Programme at the Institute\, has received funding from Stakraft\, as one of the initiatives that were part of their 100 year anniversary.

Coffee will be available from 9.30am.
