I am a PhD Student in Economic Geography. My research examines two broad themes. First, the impact of sub-national institutional quality on African regions, and second the drivers of spatial inequalities within African countries. I’m currently involved in a number of LSE research projects including an ESRC-funded Spatial Inequalities in African Political Economy project with the Department of International Development; and the Towards Promoting Private R&D Investment in Kuwait programme at the Middle East Centre.
Prior to my studies I worked as an Economic Policy Adviser for the Australian Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in both Canberra and at the Australian High Commission in London. I have since been working as an economist in the international development sector for local and national governments in Uganda, Afghanistan and Puerto Rico, and I have previously consulted for organisations including the Institute for State Effectiveness, the World Bank, and the OECD.
I am also passionate about social entrepreneurship and have co-founded two early-stage social enterprises: ConflictScanner, which aims to promote security for humanitarian/international workers in conflict zones, and Aamicus, which improves access to criminal justice in the UK.
