About me

As part of his doctoral project at the LSE, Billy focuses on the aspirations, the motivations, and the projects of housing cooperative members in Kigali, Rwanda. He investigates the role of housing in upward mobility, the sociality of middle-class formation, and the temporalities of urban and economic development.

Billy received a Master in City Planning and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology prior to joining the LSE. His academic background and professional experience in design and research firms in Rwanda solidified his interests in affordable housing, urbanisation, and inclusive economic development.

After the completion of his PhD, Billy aims to work as a researcher in private or public institutions with a focus on development in Rwanda and in other African contexts.
