Elitsa Garnizova

Dr Elitsa Garnizova

Elitsa is a Senior Project Manager and Researcher at LSE Consulting, where she leads on projects in the area of trade and investment, including policy research, impact and policy evaluations, and comparative analysis. She founded the Trade Policy Hub to respond to the challenges in the global trade environment.

In parallel to her work at LSE Consulting, she received a PhD in international political economy from LSE. Her research focuses on international trade and European Union trade policy, particularly looking at the causes and effects of non-tariff measures and regulatory issues within trade negotiations. 

Hosuk Lee-Makiyama

Hosuk Lee-Makiyama

Hosuk Lee-Makiyama is the director of the European Centre for International Political Economy (ECIPE) and a leading author on trade diplomacy, EU-Far East relations and the digital economy.

He is often consulted by governments and international organisations on a range of issues, from trade negotiations to digital economy. He appears regularly in European, Chinese and US media, and is noted for his involvement in WTO and major free trade agreements.

Elena Bryan is a Senior Fellow at ECIPE and Managing Director at Pilot Rock Global Strategies LLC, a trade, investment and regulatory consultancy.

She was Senior Trade Representative at the U.S. Mission to the EU where she was USTR’s senior official in the EU, including on TTIP. In more than 20 years at USTR, she oversaw bilateral trade relations in Southeast Asia and India, negotiated market access, rules of origin and development chapters in several U.S. trade agreements and represented the U.S. at the WTO.

Jean-Baptiste Velut

Jean-Baptiste is an Associate Professor in American Studies at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University of Paris. His research focuses on state-market relations, trade policy and globalization debates in the United States.

His research interests lie in the areas of American Political Economy, International Trade Policy, Free trade agreements, Globalization, Antiglobalization Social Movements, NAFTA, and Social Movements. He has done extensive research on the social and environmental implications of trade agreements and stakeholder engagement within the scope of FTA negotiation.  

Stefania Lovo

Dr Stefania Lovo
Senior Associate

Stefania is an Associate Professor in Economics at the University of Reading. Prior to joining Reading, Stefania was a research officer at the Grantham Research Institute at LSE.

Her research interests lie at the intersection of environmental and development economics with a focus on the impact of public policy and the role of institutions. In particular, she has studied how deforestation interacts with ethnic diversity and institutional quality, how tenure insecurity, climate shocks and crop choices affect individual and household welfare and how environmental policies and decentralisation impact on firm location, international trade and firm performance.
