Great facilities. The location of the campus is very convenient for those don't live in London.

 

A limited number of rooms have been set aside at three LSE halls of residence for attendees of the 2017 Methods Summer Programme.

All rooms are subject to availability and are not guaranteed, so early bookings are strongly advised.

Information on how to book rooms at the special rates below will be sent to applicants once they have been made an offer of a place on the programme.

Bankside House

Location and description

  • Distance to campus: 2.1 kilometres / 1.3miles
  • Closest Underground stations: London Bridge or Southwark

Bankside House is located in the historic borough of Southwark on the Thames’ South Bank. A walk along the river will take you to the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tate Modern and the South Bank Arts Centre, as well as the famous Borough Market. Journey time to LSE campus is approximately 28 minutes on foot, 12 minutes by bicycle, or 25 minutes by public transport.

The residence is the largest LSE hall. Single rooms share toilet and shower facilities (one between two rooms), and single en suite rooms come with their own private toilet and shower. The extensive lower ground floor houses a quiet study area, an IT room, and a bar. Breakfast is included in the fees.

Meals and cooking facilities

  • Breakfast is included in the fees and served in the ground floor restaurant every day
  • Evening meals may be available, depending on demand; vouchers can be purchased at reception. Within the surrounding area of Bankside House there is a wide selection of restaurants, bars and cafes
  • There are no cooking facilities at Bankside House, but you can make your own tea/coffee

 Grosvenor House

  • Closest Underground station: Holborn; Covent Garden

Grosvenor House is located on Drury Lane, in the heart of London’s Theatreland, and within five minutes’ walk of LSE campus. Covent Garden, Oxford Street’s shops and Leicester Square are also within easy walking distance.

Grosvenor House is unique within LSE accommodation in that all of its rooms are self-contained studios. They consist of private toilet and shower facilities and a mini-kitchen. Grosvenor House also has a communal television room and computer facilities.There is good disabled access to the building and a limited number of wheelchair accessible studios with modified kitchens are available. Breakfast is included in the fees on weekdays only, and served on LSE campus.

  • All kitchenettes in the studios have a two-ring hob, a microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster and cooking utensils

 High Holborn

  • Closest Underground station: Holborn; Covent Garden

High Holborn is situated ten minutes walk away from LSE campus, near the fashionable areas of Covent Garden and Soho. The main shopping district of Oxford Street is moments away, as are many of the capital’s major landmarks.

High Holborn offers single rooms with shared facilities. All standard rooms have been recently refurbished. Each room has its own washbasin, storage space, desk and lamp. Rooms are grouped in cluster flats for four to six people, sharing a kitchen and bathroom facilities. There are also a number of en suite bedrooms. The residence also offers a large communal lounge, a pool table and a computer room. Continental breakfast is included in the fees.
