Simon’s research focuses on war debts, reparations, and sovereign debt defaults in economic history. His research spans the last 200 years, from the Napoleonic Wars to more recent emerging market economic crises. He looks at how countries have incurred large debts during and after wars and under what circumstances those debts can be repaid, and at what costs to the broader economy.
Simon holds a BSc from Copenhagen Business School and a MSc in Economic History from LSE.
