Event Information:
The World Campaign for the In-depth Reform of the System of International Institutions intends to encourage a series of reforms of international institutions towards a global system of democratic governance through representative procedures involving the participation of all the actors of the world scene. Its key objective is to contribute to establishing a consistent, transparent, responsible and effective global architecture based on developing international legislation whose democratic value and legitimacy is widely accepted.

At the heart of this system would be a stronger, more democratic United Nations Organisation, with effective control over all its bodies and agencies and over all global multilateral organisations. Such an institutional system would be empowered to contribute to building a fairer, more equitable, diverse, sustainable and peaceful world.

Boutros Boutros-Ghali served as the sixth Secretary -General of the United Nations (1992-1996). He is now chairman of the South Centre, a grouping of forty six developing countries that champions South-South co-operation.  Federico Mayor Zaragoza served as the director-general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) from 1987- 1999. He now chairs the Madrid-based Fundación Cultura de Paz (Foundation for the Culture of Peace), which he founded in 2000.  Mary Robinson is a Former UN high commissioner for human rights and is currently director of the Ethical Globalisation Initiative.
