The New American Empire

Miliband Lecture on American Power in the 21st Century

Date: Wednesday 19 February 2003
Time: 6.30pm
Venue: Old Theatre, Old Building
Speaker: Professor Michael Cox

The real turning point in recent history was not 11 September but rather the decade which followed the end of the Cold War. Few understood this at the time, or recognised its international implications, until 9/11 revealed the extra-ordinary character of American power within the world system.

Professor Cox started teaching at the LSE International Relations Department in January 2003

This lecture is free and open to all with no ticket required. Entry is on a first come, first serve basis.
