New Year Honours at LSE

LSE would like to congratulate all staff, former staff and alumni recognised in the 2016 New Year Honours.

Ruth Kaufman LSERuth Kaufman  (pictured right), senior visiting fellow in the Department of Management, was awarded an OBE for her services to operational research.

In addition to her role at LSE, Ruth Kaufman has recently started a two year term as president of the Operational Research Society. She was previously chair of the Government OR Service, an executive board member of the Export Credits Guarantee Department and chair of Woman's Trust, a London-based charity helping women affected by domestic violence.


Former LSE staff honoured:

Professor Linda McDowell CBE, Professor of Human Geography at the University of Oxford, Commander of the British Empire for services to Geography and Higher Education.

Professor Dame Henrietta L. Moore, Director of UCL Institute for Global Prosperity, Dame Commander of the British Empire for services to Social Sciences.

Alison Jean Allden OBE, MSc Analysis, Design and Management of Information 1989, Order of the British Empire for services to higher education

David M Hando, BSc Government 1959, Medallist of the Order of the British Empire for services to the community in Newport and to Newport County Association Football Club.

David S Joseph CBE, BSc Geography 1990, Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to the UK Music Industry.

Rowena O Macaulay MBE, MSc (Econ) Social Policy & Social Work 1991, Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to Higher Education.

Philip S Mason OBE, BSc Economics 1980, Order of the British Empire for services to International Anti-Corruption Policy.

David K Miles CBE, Occasional Student 1984, Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to Monetary Policy.

Sir David R Norgrove, MSc (Econ) Economics 1972, has been knighted for services to the low paid and the family justice system.

Dame Heather V Rabbatts, MSc International Relations 1978, Dame Commander for public service and services to football and equality.

Lucy N Shaw CBE, Occasional Student 1991, Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to transport.

Jessica M Steele OBE, MSc Social Anthropology 1993, Order of the British Empire for services to community assets in the UK.
