Impact available to download (July 2015)
The summer edition of Impact, celebrating the impact of philanthropic support for the School in 2015 to date, is now available to download. Stories include LSE's largest ever private donation, which will be used to establish the Marshall Institute for Philanthropy and Social Entrepreneurship, and the School's success in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and some of the case studies which received philanthropic support. 

Mother and son honour two generations at LSE (July 2015)
Two rooms in 32 Lincoln’s Inn Fields have been named in honour of LSE alumni from the Department of Economics. This comes after a generous gift from Opal Dunn, the wife of J-J Dunn MBE (BSc Economics 1952), and their son Richard (BSc Economics 1984, MSc Economics 1985).

The virtuous cycle: the power of scholarships (July 2015)
Each year the School hosts its annual Donors & Scholars event to celebrate the role scholarships play in ensuring students are able to accept their offer of a place at LSE. This year we spoke with Cato Stonex (BSc 1986 International Relations), donor of the Stonex PhD Scholarship and Stonex Undergraduate Scholarship for Eastern EU Students, and Simon Toner, a PhD scholar of his.

Richard Oram supports the programme that helped frame his career (July 2015)
Alumnus Richard Oram has made a generous gift in support of the academic programme within the Department of Geography and Environment that he once studied on, now known as Regional and Urban Planning Studies (RUPS). 

Olam scholarship to support aspiration of sub-Saharan Africa (June 2015)
A new scholarship has been established with the aim of fostering leadership and governance in sub-Saharan Africa. The Olam International Graduate Scholarship - Catalysing Change in African Markets will support a scholar from the region who is undertaking a one year taught master’s programme within the Department of Economics or the Department of International Development. 

Annual Fund helps back a strong year for LSE women in sport (June 2015)
2014/15 represented an exciting year in the growing development of women’s sports teams at LSE, with many benefiting from Annual Fund support to record varying levels of success.The teams of hockey, rugby and volleyball were among those who benefited. 

Record gift marks an exciting new landmark in the history of philanthropy at LSE (April 2015)
A transformative pledge of £30 million from philanthropist Paul Marshall will enable LSE to establish the Marshall Institute for Philanthropy and Social Entrepreneurship. It will be dedicated to improving the impact, effectiveness and appeal of philanthropy and social entrepreneurship. 

Third cycle of Stiftung Mercator funding for Dahrendorf Symposium Project (March 2015)
LSE has received a third round of funding, amounting to just over £900,000, from Stiftung Mercator, one of the leading German charitable foundations supporting research institutions. This support will help enable the 2016 Dahrendorf Symposium, the third of its kind. 

New academic centre focuses on women in conflict (February 2015)
A new Centre on Women, Peace and Security, situated within the Institute of Global Affairs, has been launched. This ground-breaking initiative, the first of its kind in the Europe, will focus on enhancing accountability and ending impunity for rape and sexual violence in war, closely examining the participation of women in conflict-related processes. 

LSESU Travel Fund returns after successful pilot (February 2015)
One major project being supported by the Annual Fund in Michaelmas Term is the LSESU Travel Fund, a means-tested fund that enables students at LSE to travel to locations around the world for the purposes of research, work experience or other activities, such as academic conferences or extracurricular teaching programmes. This is a continuation of previous support for the project, which last year saw £11,000 awarded between 34 students.

Annual Fund support for LSE and entrepreneurship (December 2014) 
As the School announces its new LSE Entrepreneurship unit, launched at an event in October, the Annual Fund has also been supporting entrepreneurship initiatives run by student bodies at the School. 

Introducing Chris Yates, Director of LSE Advancement (November 2014)
Chris Yates joined LSE Advancement as its Director this summer, offering leadership for this newly defined function of the School and bringing over two decades’ worth of experience in the US. In this Q&A, he offers a brief word on his plans for improving and optimising alumni relations and fundraising at LSE, and the new philanthropic landscape for the School. 

Autumn Impact available to download (November 2014)
In our latest newsletter for supporters of LSE, read about the evolving nature of the School's philanthropic functions, as the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (ODAR) becomes LSE Advancement. 

Annual Fund report to donors 2013/14 published (October 2014)
Details of the 76 projects supported by the Annual Fund can now be accessed through the 2013/14 report to donors, available online. The Annual Fund was able to support 40 students through scholarships, 51 student clubs and societies, and various teaching and research initiatives.

School’s new media studio opens thanks to Annual Fund support (October 2014)
The new facility was officially opened in late September by BAFTA award-winning film maker Roger Graef. The new development, situated in the Tower buildings, was supported by an Annual Fund grant.

Wolfson support for The Women’s Library (September 2014)
The Wolfson Foundation has extended its significant support of LSE’s capital development programme through a gift of £100,000 towards the establishment of the Women’s Library @ LSE.

Alison Wetherfield grants reflect memory of tireless campaigner (September 2014)
LSE is delighted to announce two grants from the Alison Wetherfield Foundation to Widening Participation and the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA).
