Where you can help

LSE's priority areas for fundraising are:

  • Student support
  • Campus development
  • Academic initiatives
  • Building a sustainable future.

Student support

The School aims to attract the brightest and best students from across the world, regardless of financial background. This priority ranges from scholarships and bursaries that support one student to endowing named scholarships for future generations. It also covers widening participation schemes that encourage people from backgrounds with no university tradition to consider university through engagement with schools. Last year, LSE provided over £2 million in philanthropic student support.

Campus development

As a world-class institution, LSE needs world-class facilities. This funding priority helps the School undertake an ongoing programme of refurbishment and improvement, acquire property for development into academic centres, and create new buildings to meet the growing needs and demands of 21st century education.

Academic initiatives

Education and research are at the heart of LSE’s mission. This priority includes supporting new chairs and positions in departments, supporting existing academic posts, and funding cross departmental academic initiatives which draw on the talents and skills from across social scientific disciplines.

Building a sustainable future

In order for LSE to remain competitive in the top tier of worldwide universities, the need to attract support towards unrestricted endowment funds is an emerging priority for the School.
