British Government @ LSE is the School’s initiative to encapsulate the drive and need to increase research and understanding in the area of British politics. It embodies the School’s commitment to making analysis of UK politics and policy more accessible to a wider public audience, empowering more people to make informed decisions and hold politicians to account through an increased understanding of governmental decisions and policy.
British Government @ LSE will bring together the different areas of expertise in this field in a way that has not previously been achieved in the UK. It will become the leading centre for the rigorous analysis and research of these British governmental issues, making a huge contribution to our knowledge of this area.
British Government @ LSE will answer key questions in the arena of British government through providing the space and expertise to publicly and openly debate, examine, and critique the policies and powers of the Government and opposition.
The programme's public lecture series has made up a key part of the School’s enormously successful and popular public lecture series. The School has welcomed speakers such as former head of the Civil Service Sir Gus O'Donnell, First Minister of Scotland Alex Salmond MSP, Alastair Darling MP, Bill Bratton and Bernard Hogan-Howe, amongst many others.
