Thanks to the support of alumni and friends, LSE was able to award scholarships to over 270 students in 2010-2011 alone.

The continued growth and success of the Scholarship programme has had an invaluable impact on the School, ensuring that we can offer some of the best and brightest students the opportunities and experiences that an LSE education can provide. Your support makes a real difference, transforming the lives of students and investing in future policy makers, business champions and world leaders.

Message from a former scholarship recipient
I was hysterical when LSE offered me an unconditional place, but was incredibly disheartened when I realised that my parents just couldn't afford to support me financially. The figures just didn't add up – even with the maximum loan, grant and bursary. I never – in a million years – thought I would actually get an LSE scholarship. I applied on a whim, and spent so long pouring out my heart on paper, about why I so desperately needed and deserved this one chance, that would change my life forever. So, when I opened the envelope from LSE, much jumping around, tears and disbelief followed.

What Bill Bottriell has contributed to my life is phenomenal. He has supported me in the one way which no-one else could have. Receiving the Bottriell scholarship has meant that I haven't had to work 20 hours a week to get-by, its meant that I can engross myself in study, and its meant that I can actually have a life!
