How your gift is used

The impact of your support

I will always be grateful for the support I received at LSE, which gave me the confidence to make the change I wanted to.

Madelle Kangha, New Futures Fund scholarship recipient

Philanthropy helps LSE continue to seek the understanding of the causes of things for the betterment of society. Your regular gifts ensure that talented individuals reach their potential and help shape the world.

Below are recent examples of the impact your regular gifts have had on the people, places, and research that make LSE distinct.

Shaping future leaders

“I now run a for-impact social venture, Jumpstart Academy Africa, which seeks to educate Africa’s job creators by pioneering an entrepreneurship curriculum. I will always be grateful for the support I received at LSE, which gave me the confidence to make the change I wanted to.”

Meet Madelle Kangha, New Futures Fund scholarship recipient.

Shaping our community

“I hope that it’s going to be a great resource for both students and educators - anyone from high school to university level.”

Meet Chris Gilson of the US Centre, who received regular giving support to fund a project which works to increase understanding of local, state-based politics in the United States.

Shaping ideas for impact

“One of the best things about the project was being able to immerse myself in the subject as well as feeling like I was contributing to academic research.”

Meet Eleonore Lorijn, who was awarded an Undergraduate Research Fellowship. She gained experience of working with a Professor on an extensive research project focusing on African cities.

We are proud to recognise the impact of regular giving - within the past few years regular gifts from alumni and friends have enabled:

  • Over 140 scholarship awards for the New Futures Fund scholarship scheme
  • Over 300 student-led activities – enhancing the student experience
  • Over 20 faculty-led institutional initiatives - improving teaching and research
  • All academic departments and research centres can now accept regular gifts from donors, with 27 departments and 12 research centres receiving support in the last academic year
